So You’re Going To The Gym
It’s the New Year. You’ve joined a gym, planned your workouts, and made an appointment with a trainer.
Now what?
What do you pack for the gym so, when you get there, you’re not looking in your bag, thinking “well, this was a waste of a trip!” How do you prepare for your visit in the most convenient way?
First, do you wear your outfit to the gym? If not, don’t forget to pack your workout clothes! (Seems obvious, but you’d be surprised at how easy a detail this is to overlook). More than just a shirt and shorts, you’ll need extra socks, and if you are female, the sports bra. Also, don’t forget to pack your shoes.
If you decide to shower and primp at the gym, be sure to include toiletries: deodorant, shampoo, cleanser, and moisturizer. And remember to bring your own towel. I cannot stress that enough.
Possibly the most important thing to bring is a combination lock. Why would you want your things stolen?
This is the bare minimum.
What else do you need?
Here is what I bring:
· iPod Nano
· water bottle
· workout book
· post-workout snack (Okay, that’s what I should bring)
What if you wear corrective lenses? Does this impact your gym going? It does mine. For instance, one must wear sunglasses when driving when it’s sunny. So, for me that used to mean contact lenses. But the air in the gym can be super dry and showering after my workout was a problem. Now, I have glasses with clip-ons, and I don’t have to worry about glasses vs. lenses anymore. Luckily, I don’t have to work out with my glasses on, so that eliminates a whole set of other problems.
I still forget things now and again. I’ve also left things at the gym but a year later, I think I’ve got my system down pat.
What are some of the challenges you faced and how did you solve them?
